Job Description:
Under the guidance of the Sr. Compensation and Benefits Manager,
the Payroll & Benefits Specialist supports the activities relating
to the company payroll, benefits, and Workers Compensation.The
Payroll & Benefits Specialist follows internal processes and is
considered the benefits expert, having overall responsibility and
management of leave of absence tracking, worker s compensation
claims handling and new employee benefit orientation.DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):PayrollProcess
payroll for hourly, salaried and temporary employees; including
reviewing timesheets for completion accuracy.Responds to
unemployment claims in a timely manner.Produces scheduled and as
needed reports pertaining to payroll ad HR
requirementsAdministration of employee benefit programs, including
health and welfare plans, 401(k) and worker s compensation
claims.Processes bi-weekly updates between HR/Benefit system and
401(k) provider (Fidelity).In depth knowledge of leave of absence
administration.BenefitsAdminister all employee benefit programs
including enrollments and terminations.Coordinates and conducts the
new employee benefits orientations to ensure employees gain an
understanding of benefit plan options and enrollment
provisions.Supports annual open enrollment period. This includes
preparation (or revision) and distribution of materials, conducting
meetings with Sr. Compensation and Benefits Manager to communicate
changes to employees, arranging for on-site representation by
providers, and processing changes within deadlines.Plans, conducts
and reports results of audits to ensure all enrollments are
accurate and that dependent information is correct for each
employee and works closely with accounting for quarterly and year
end audits (payroll, Workers Comp, 401k, etc.).Addresses benefit
inquiries to ensure timely and accurate resolutions. Maintains
contact with employees and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and
complete utilization of benefits for all employees.Administers
online COBRA enrollments/changes and responds to and manages
unemployment claims and workers compensation cases.Maintains
confidential employee records.Please note: this position will not
be offered as a remote work styleEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:2+
years work experience should include knowledge of basic human
resources, payroll practices, benefits administration, and
compliance or other related experience.Bachelor s degree preferred,
or equivalent experience.Strong understanding of Human Resources
processes and terminology, payroll and benefit processes and
procedures, including eligibility and enrollment rules and benefit
procedures.Bilingual a plus.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Must have a
solid understanding and knowledge of state and federal employment
and benefit laws.Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to
handle sensitive and confidential situations.Good public speaking
and presentation skills.Interpersonal skills and ability to
interact and with staff at all levels.Excellent written and verbal
communication skills.Ability to work in a team environment.Ability
to pay attention to details and be organized.Ability to project a
professional image over the phone and in person.Commitment to
"internal client" and customer service principles.Ability to handle
multiple tasks in a fast-paced non-profit environment.Willingness
to take initiative and follow through on projects and communicate
when help is needed.Spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing
skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to
details.Excellent time management skills, with the ability to
prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines with a
sense of urgency.Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret
summary plan documents.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add,
subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning Ability: Ability
to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of
concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization
exists.Technical skills: Advanced knowledge in Microsoft
applications including excel required. Previous experience with
HRIS/Benefits system required (Paycom hands-on experience is a
