Roles & Responsibilities Provide on-shift leadership as a charge RN, coordinating patient care and staffing decisions Mentor and coach clinical staff to promote best practices and high-quality outcomes Round on patients, proactively identify safety or service concerns, and escalate appropriately Serve as a clinical resource for complex cases and interdisciplinary communication Perform charge nurse duties as needed based on census and staffing levels Document patient care accurately in Cerner and ensure charting completeness Promote a positive work environment by supporting staff, addressing interpersonal issues, and modeling professional behavior Qualifications Active RN license (able to submit for assignment) Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience (acute/telemetry preferred) Must have served as Charge RN in most recent assignment (no first-time travelers) Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS (AHA or APEX) Experience with telemetry patient care and telemetry unit workflows Familiarity with Cerner charting system Willingness to complete a 3-week orientation (1 week classroom, 2 weeks unit orientation) Education Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma; BSN not required Knowledge & Skills Strong telemetry assessment and monitoring skills Clinical leadership and charge nurse workflow management Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities Ability to mentor and teach staff at the point of care Proficiency with electronic charting (Cerner) and documentation standards Knowledge of ACLS protocols, stroke assessment (NIHSS), and BLS Benefits Generous housing stipend and travel reimbursement to make your assignment comfortable and easy Medical, dental & vision coverage options so you and your family stay healthy Licensure assistance & reimbursement to help you stay compliant and focused on care Paid time off to recharge between assignments Life insurance and basic protections for peace of mind Referral bonus program to reward you for bringing great teammates on board A supportive team and leadership that values your clinical voice and growth Comprehensive orientation (3 weeks: 1 week classroom, 2 weeks unit orientation) so you hit the floor confident Travel Perks: Explore Bakersfield, CA Explore Bakersfield’s local flavor: visit the Kern County Museum and Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace for local history and live music, enjoy outdoor time along the Kern River Parkway and Hart Memorial Park, stop by the Buena Vista Museum of Natural History, or take weekend trips to the nearby Sierra/Sequoia area for hiking and nature.
