Family Practice MD in California City, California, 93505! We are
seeking a Family Practice Physician for a 120-day locum tenens
assignment in California, starting Mar 30, 2026. This role offers a
Monday through Friday schedule with 8-hour day shifts, totaling 40
hours per week. The physician will deliver comprehensive medical
services within a correctional healthcare setting and provide
leadership in collaboration with the Health Services Supervisor.

8-hour days, 5x per week (40 hours/week) Responsibilities and
Duties Provide a range of professional medical services to
inmates/residents, including examinations, diagnosis, prescribing
medications, treatment, and follow-up care Offer leadership for the
medical program in partnership with the Health Services Supervisor
Monitor operations and review standards of care provided to
inmates/residents Conduct interviews for admissions and make
associated decisions Make clinical rounds and participate in
treatment team meetings to develop and revise health plans Direct
unit treatment operations and perform minor or occasional major
surgery as needed Conduct clinics for nursing specialists,
including making diagnoses, determining treatment, and issuing
prescriptions and protocols Maintain effective relationships with
facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers, and external
agencies Adhere to established corporate, facility, and
correctional policies while exercising sound independent judgment
Assist in developing facility medical policy and motivate staff to
follow procedures Evaluate medical services to prevent
inappropriate use or duplication Monitor inpatient hospitalizations
and facilitate early release as clinically appropriate Closely
monitor potential catastrophic illnesses Prepare and maintain
narrative, statistical, summary, and operational records Audit
medical files and evaluate methods to improve efficiency and
cost-effectiveness Meet with outside hospital and agency
administrators to maintain strong working relationships Support
accreditation processes by ensuring organizational efficiency and
appropriate services Accept on-call responsibilities as needed
Attend seminars, workshops, and conferences as required Provide
health counseling and education to individuals or groups Clearly
communicate responsibilities and accountability to subordinates
