Experience in Emergency Room setting Description: Unit is equipped
with a fast track area with 3 treatment areas. Total of 14 beds
available for patient care. No psych/seclusion rooms present.
Average patient volume is 65 patients per day. Certifications
required include ACLS, BLS, and PALS. Nurse to patient ratio is 1
to 4. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system used is Cerner.
Charge Nurse presence is mandatory on every shift. Clinical techs
available from 7 AM to 7 PM and 2 PM to 2 AM. Unit secretary or
clerk is part of the staff. Security is nearby at all times in the
lobby. Every other weekend shift is required. Holidays are rotated
with permanent staff. Scrub color is navy. Monitoring system
utilized is Phillips. Mandatory to print and sign off on strips as
no techs are present. Ventilator support is available. Emergency
Department physicians and mid-levels are present. Respiratory
Therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are available 24/7.
Available shift times include 6:45 AM, 9 AM to 9 PM, 12 PM to 12
AM, 2 PM to 2 AM, and 6:45 PM. Floating to other departments is
required. Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts. Common
diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, orthopedic injuries,
and minor cuts or scrapes. Travelers can triage with relevant
experience. Conscious sedation can be performed if competency is
obtained. Psych patients may remain in the unit for days at a time.
Police station proximity enhances security. Looking for adaptable
individuals who can integrate into a new environment quickly.
Management is highly involved and supportive of nursing staff.
Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per
assignment duration.
