POSITION SUMMARY: The Distribution Services Manager is responsible for all operational, receiving and shipping aspects of FedEx Office Distribution Services (ODS). The role uses all available resources to develop, manage and sustain a world class operation that exceeds customer expectations, yielding cost savings and profitability in a team member-friendly environment. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform, and is not intended to be all-inclusive) Recruit, lead and develop a team by training, motivating, and coaching team members on a consistent basis to ensure there is an adequate bench of team members ready for advancement Develop and implement policies and procedures that define maximum efficiencies and profitability of the Distribution Center Responsible to maintain compliance to all FXO policies and legal requirements (SOX, OSHA, DOT, Local/State/Federal requirements, Fire and security systems) Manage the day to day activities (including order fulfillment, Purchasing and Receiving) of the Distribution Center ensuring service and budgetary goals are met Track and report monthly statistical data to Senior Management and implement/change policies and procedures based on impact of data presented Maintain/update order fulfillment process and equipment including radio frequency scanner system, conveyor system and layout, inventory tracking, forklifts and other product movement systems/equipment Provide feedback, ideas and suggestions for efficient operations and warehouse management system updates and enhancements Develop, monitor and evaluate labor performance standards and resource requirements necessary to perform efficiently and address work volume fluctuations in all areas of distribution Ensure cycle counts are conducted, based on an ABC system, maintaining an appropriate inventory accuracy Maintain safety, security, cleanliness, physical structure/layout and equipment needed to insure efficient operation of the Distribution Center Develop and maintain partnerships with vendors and business associates based on trust, honesty and integrity Prepare and present proposals for annual budgets inclusive of capital or expense needs within company and department processes, rules and regulations Enforce company policies and guidelines on environmental issues; creatively seek new ways to reduce waste and recycle Oversee the inventory management process in order to meet departmental goals regarding inventory turns, order fill rate and backorder percentages Monitor and maintain warehouse supplies inventory optimizing availability, inventory turns or rotation All other duties as needed or required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 6+ years of experience in distribution utilizing multiple distribution centers 2+ years of management experience preferred Computer skills should include Warehouse Management Systems, Shipping Software (ideally FedEx Ship Manager), Reporting Applications (i.e., BI Publisher or Crystal Reports) as well as Microsoft Office Suite of applications Knowledge of inventory management methodology and pick/pack operations Experience with logistics planning, Materials Resource Planning (MRP) and Just in Time (JIT) purchasing management For new hires, must meet all FedEx Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring For current FedEx Office team members, must meet hiring criteria for the position and transfer requirements as outlined in the Team Member Handbook ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to travel as required in order to meet with customers, vendors, other team members, and/or other business necessities Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time Ability, on a consistent basis, to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers, vendors, and other team members Ability, on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team members Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction Ability, on a consistent basis, to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure Ability, on a consistent basis, to work within the appropriate level of independence Ability, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance and/or reporting could include regular attendance at a physical location and/or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the position Quality Driven Management strives to deliver market-leading customer experience, business excellence, and financial return through a Quality-oriented culture and day-to-day application of Quality science. Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions. Works with management to reduce company costs/wastes, and to optimize profitability in areas of responsibility.
