the community.Stationary Engineer - Facilities ServicesSt. John's
Regional Medical CenterWe are currently seeking a skilled and
experience Stationary Engineer to join our team. The Stationary
Engineer will be responsible for, operates, maintains, inspects,
troubleshoots and repairs all infrastructure-related equipment and
systems.The successful candidate must have a strong aptitude, a
thorough understanding of engineering principles, and the ability
to work well independently or as part of a team.operate, maintain,
inspect, troubleshoot and repair all hospital buildings and related
equipment and systems, including but not limited to: - HVAC and
Refrigeration, - mechanical and plumbing equipment and distribution
systems, including hot/cold water, storm water, sanitary waste,
steam, condensate, fire sprinkler, etc., - electrical systems,
including normal power, emergency power (generator, ATS, UST), -
BAS (building automation system), including electric and pneumatic
controls, - pneumatic tube system, - Elevators, - TV distribution,
- Medical Gas equipment and distribution, - nurse call system, -
low voltage systems, including communication systems, PA , access
control, - patient beds, gurneys, - kitchen equipment, - Life
Safety equipment and systems, - corrective and preventive work
order system, - general maintenance, including drywall repair,
patch &paint, basic carpentry, key and lock, etc., - all
related auxiliary equipment for systems listed aboveContinuously
monitor all pressure vessel operations, gauges, valves, and visible
audible controls (per Title 8)Assist preparing the boiler for
annual inspection, source testing, etc.Perform water treatment
activities to ensure established chemical water balances are
constantly maintainedComplete all scheduled and unscheduled
preventive maintenance tasks as assignedAudit preventive and
corrective work orders for timely completion and report status to
supervisorOperate a variety of power and hand toolsFollow standard
and prescribed safety regulationsRespond to all facility emergency
codes. NOTE: In case a sole stationary engineer on duty is directed
(by Department Supervisor and/or Nurse Supervisor) to respond to an
emergency situation outside the central plant, the engineer will
shut down the high pressure steam boilers in compliance with CCR
Title 8Ongoing inspect building environment for repair needs and
initiate immediate corrective actions or report repair needs to
supervisor (ongoing assignments), including floor, wall, paint,
door, window, lights, ceiling tiles, locksSubject to a 24-hour call
backPerform other related duties as assignedHigh school education
or equivalent Minimum of 1 year generalized knowledge in facility
repair and maintenance operationsCCR Title 8 Training on facility
specific Central Plant equipment and systems Passing Competency
Assessment by Supervisor within 90 days of hireMust possess a valid
California Drivers License and be approved by Dignity Health as an
authorized driver of hospital vehicles.Preferred
Qualifications:Hospital experience Boiler Operator
experienceSpecial Skills:Ability to analyze complex tasks systems
problems designs and be able to implement the most effective
working solution. Ability to work cohesively with other team
members and yet able to work alone with little to no supervision.
Must possess a good working knowledge of the mechanical plumbing
and electrical aspects of the Central Plant and building systems.
Must be familiar with control equipment and distribution systems.
Must be familiar with California Administration Code Title 8
General Industry Safety Orders Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety
Orders and Compressed Air Safety Orders. Must have good written and
oral skills with a strong attention to details.This position is
represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions
of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
