Eaton's Fluid Electrical Distribution division, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Camarillo, CA office. Relocation is available for qualified candidate currently residing in USA.

Position Overview:

The Senior Test Engineer will test both prototype and production/qualification hardware with a focus on safety and quality, verifying that it performs to the product required specifications.

The incumbent will study the specifications and examine the hardware while working to determine what data is needed and then identify the actual test methods, materials, fixtures and equipment required.

They will schedule and perform tests; keeping the customer up-to-date and presenting data to the requester and maintain responsibility for all engineering details associated with the engineering testing performed at this facility and others as needed to fulfill customer obligations.

In this function you will:
Write qualification test plans and procedures based upon customer or internal product requirements, ensuring that all requirements that are to be validated by test are captured. This includes coordinating test planning activities with the product engineering function.
Perform testing in support of new product development activities, including qualification testing.
Train test technicians to perform testing to industry and custom test procedures.
Support scheduling and planning activities related to all engineering test programs and provides updates in regular tiered meetings tracking test execution and effectiveness.
Analyze test outputs and document test results in qualification test reports/development test reports.
Troubleshoot test anomalies and determine root cause of test related anomalies using best practices (5 Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone)
Compose development test plans to support design risk reduction and fact finding testing.
Develop test stands and fixtures; manage the procurement/fabrication of the test stand/fixture.
Determine appropriate data acquisition, instrumentation, and analysis to provide adequate test outputs to validate test requirements
Interpret new and innovative test procedures for product development.
Participate in early phase product development to identify project testing risks as they relate to schedule and providing product improvements to the design team to eliminate test risks.
Implement, promote and maintain a safe work environment by implementing a culture of accident prevention, investigation, equipment maintenance and application of rules. Identify, control and administer risk and danger in own area.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum 3 years working experience as a Test Engineer or equivalent
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred qualifications:
Proficient in industry standard testing methods (EIA, MIL).
Proficient in design, modeling, and drafting of test fixtures (ideally in Solidworks).
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (ie Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Proficient in custom test software programming for data collection systems (ideally in LabView)
Hands on testing experience and trouble shooting.
Knowledge of basic engineering principles as they relate to mechanical assemblies and is able to implement them into a testing setting.

Position Criteria:
Working knowledge of mechanical design principles
Strong product design ability (Both new product & product modification)
Advanced knowledge in engineering report and specification writing
In-depth knowledge of mechanics of materials, statics, and dynamics
Ability to make recommendations on product designs, strongly influence product costs, and capital investments.
Ability to lead technical discussions and presentations for internal and external customers, including design reviews, non-advocate reviews and technical coordination meetings.
Thorough knowledge of product applications, product design techniques, engineering processes, and engineering standards.
Familiar with government regulations and industry standards on design and operation of aviation ground fueling equipment
